Track 1 ATRAUMATIC EXTRACTION AND SOCKET GRAFTING TECHNIQUES + Introduction to Ridge Augmentation (2-day course)
Course Description: Managing extraction sites is one of the most critical skills a dentist can possess in the 21st century. Whether for a fixed bridge or a dental implant, general dentists (or any doctor performing the extraction) are in the best position to properly, predictably, and successfully GROW BONE!
Day 1:
- Provide a rationale for socket grafting
- Introduce the 3 types of sockets and the various ways which they are grafted
- How to choose a bone graft material
- How to determine when a membrane is required
- Provide an introduction into guided bone regeneration (GBR) procedures.
- Dealing with failed implants and their “sockets”
- Discuss the principles of bone grafting
- Live video demonstrations
- Pig jaw lab
Day 2
- Live patient surgeries
Track 2 Root Coverage Techniques for Gingival Recession: Just Say “No” to the Palate (2-day course)
Course Description: Gingival recession is one one of the most undiagnosed and untreated conditions in the general dental practice. Most patients are not excited about the prospect of have tissue harvested from the roofs of their mouths and most general dentists are unsure about how to do it. Vertical Translation is a root coverage technique that allows you to “just say NO” to the palate. You you learn flap design and suturing techniques that allow you to achieve predictable root coverage with allograft materials.
Day 1
- Accurately defi ne soft tissue defects and identify common periodontal issues
- Understand the periodontal complications of soft tissue defects
- Review both classic and current techniques to treat soft tissue defects with periodontal plastic surgery
- Defi ne the goals of periodontal plastic surgery and keys to success
- Be able to assess results
- Keys to case acceptance
- Live video demonstration
- Coordinating perio-restorative concepts in a TEAM approach
- Practical approaches (time, money, predictability, pain)
- Inter-offi ce communication
- Coordinating multiple treatment modalities
- Pig jaw lab
Day 2
- Live patient surgeries

- All surgical/ grafting materials and Patients will be provided.
- All patients have been examined and have signed consent forms.
- All pre and postop care will be provided by Dr.Kendrick
- All you have to do is show up and learn!
